Room 216

Room 216 is located on the second floor of the hotel.  The room features a king size bed with an antique late-nineteenth century wooden Moroccan screen repurposed as a headboard, plus an original antique dresser and mirror, an original writing desk and an antique Western Electric wall mount hotel telephone from 1918.

This newly renovated room retains the original antique wall sconces, push button light switches with brass plates and cast iron steam registers from 1918.  Additionally, the room features two original water-color paintings by Priscilla Montgomery, a mid-twentieth century New England artist who reportedly stayed at the Herbert Grand Hotel one-week per summer for several years.  Local historians contend that the natural beauty of Sugarloaf Mountain and the Bigelow Mountains and Crocker Mountain were the inspiration for many of her works of art.  As with all of the rooms at the Herbert Grand Hotel, Room 216 was renovated in 2016 and features free WiFi and a private bathroom.  The bathroom features a pedestal sink and shower and tub combo.
